Motion Skills

Teach

Explainers and lessons that show how things work

Turn notes, an article, a paper or a topic into an explainer where the thing itself moves: a mechanism, a process, an idea, a period of history, a proof. For YouTube, a course or a class.

No Team plan? Make Claude Motion-style videos anyway

On one map: Claude Motion is in beta on Team and Enterprise, but Claude Code is on Pro and Max, and with a motion skill it renders the same kind of video on your computer.

Example of Explainer Director16:9 · 38 s

From Anthropic's Claude Motion help article and this site's guide; narration is a synthetic voice.

Example films

Each film was directed, scored and rendered by a coding agent with one of our skills, from a short brief. Turn the sound on.

Why we have seasons

Not distance: the orbit drawn to its real shape, then the tilt and the same sunlight spread over 2.1× the ground in December.

Example of Explainer Director16:9 · 58 s

How compound interest grows money

$1,000 at 5% for 30 years, year by year: what you put in, simple interest, and interest on interest.

Example of Explainer Director16:9 · 60 s

A worked example, not financial advice.

How your browser finds a website's address

DNS on one map: the resolver asks a root server, then the .com servers, then the site's own server, and keeps the answer for its time to live.

Example of Explainer Director16:9 · 81 s

From RFC 1034, RFC 1035 and IANA's root server list; the site and its address are made-up samples.

How many Earths fit inside the Sun?

From a person pointing at the sky out to the whole Sun: 109 Earths across, about 1.3 million by volume, and why fewer whole round Earths would fit.

Example of Explainer Director9:16 · 57 s

From NASA's Sun and Earth fact sheets (archived copies).

Percent vs percentage points

A one-minute lesson: subtract for points, divide for percent, a quiz with a countdown, the common mistake corrected.

Example of Lesson Director16:9 · 59 s

Examples are the lesson's own.

Read the axis before the bars

A one-minute lesson on bar charts whose axis doesn't start at zero, with a quiz.

Example of Lesson Director16:9 · 64 s

Examples are the lesson's own.

Sleep after learning

A 2006 study: students who slept after learning kept their German words; those who stayed up lost more. Table 1 rebuilt, limits included.

Example of Paper Director16:9 · 69 s

From Gais, Lucas & Born (2006), Learning & Memory.

Media multitasking, and what came after

The 2009 Stanford finding on heavy media multitaskers, in its own numbers, and the 2017 replications that could not reliably repeat it.

Example of Paper Director16:9 · 95 s

From Ophir, Nass & Wagner (2009), PNAS, and Wiradhany & Nieuwenstein (2017).

The race to the South Pole

Amundsen and Scott on one time axis: who got there first, and the 34 days between them.

Example of Timeline Director16:9 · 59 s

From Amundsen's The South Pole and Scott's journals, both public domain.

The birth of the web

From a memo at CERN in 1989 to 1% of the US research backbone in 1993, on one scale.

Example of Timeline Director16:9 · 66 s

From W3C's A Little History of the World Wide Web.

Pythagoras by rearrangement

Four triangles in one square, slid into new places: the empty space shows a² + b² = c².

Example of Math Director16:9 · 71 s

From OpenStax Prealgebra 2e, 9.3 and cut-the-knot proofs #4 and #9.

A walk to the river: a worked problem

Where should you fetch water so the walk is shortest? Try a few places, then reflect B in the river and go straight: 10 km.

Example of Math Director16:9 · 99 s

A problem written for the film; every length computed and checked two ways.

Why 1 + 2 + … + n = n(n + 1)/2

The sum written forwards and backwards: every column adds to n + 1, checked with dots, then 5,050.

Example of Math Director16:9 · 71 s

From OpenStax Algebra and Trigonometry 2e, 13.4.

Questions

Can it make a YouTube explainer?

Yes. Give it an article, notes or a topic. It finds the shape of the message and shows the thing itself moving, not a row of text cards. Add your own voiceover or a system voice.

Can it explain a paper or a study?

Yes. Every claim and number goes into a sources table with the paper it came from, and the film cites it on screen.

Can it make a lesson with steps?

Yes. The Lesson Director reveals one step at a time, holds long enough to read, and checks the viewer kept up with short quizzes.

Can it work through a math problem?

Yes. The Math Director derives a result on screen one step at a time, or works a problem: it tries first, then shows the trick, computes every length and ends on the check.
