Claude Motion: who has it, and what to do if you don't

Claude Motion is Anthropic's beta feature that turns a prompt into an editable animated explainer, on Team and Enterprise plans.

The facts

  • •Claude Motion is a beta feature in claude.ai, launched October 8, 2026, that turns a prompt into a short animated explainer.
  • •Claude builds the animation as code, so you can edit any word, number or timing, then export an MP4.
  • •It is on Claude Team (on by default) and Enterprise (an owner turns it on). It isn't on Free, Pro or Max.
  • •Claude Code, Codex and Cursor don't have Claude Motion, but a skill gives them the same kind of video.

Questions

Can I make Claude Motion-style videos without a Team plan?

Yes. Install Starter Director, free, in Claude Code (works on Pro and Max), Codex or Cursor. Describe the video; your agent directs it, composes the music and renders the MP4 on your computer.

Are the prompts free?

Yes. Every prompt on this site is free to copy after a Google sign-in. No card needed.

How do I write a good Claude Motion prompt?

Treat it as a shot list: who it's for and where it plays, the length and format, the look, the beats in order, motion words like "counts up" or "wipes in from the left", and the end frame.

Do I need credits?

Not with a skill: it runs in your own agent, so the only usage is your agent's. Claude Motion itself uses your Claude plan's usage.
